The versatility of tacos makes it a great way to start the day. Business event planners serve up nutrition and surprises with these “handheld devices.”
Pity the event planner assigned – with high expectations – to make breakfasts exciting. Every omelet has been tried, every iteration on oatmeal has been done. And while power smoothies excite the triathletes and marathoners in your bunch, you know you have other people to feed and make happy.
Gourmet tacos are nutritious, filling and are quite likely to get noticed – in all the good ways. Just as important, those caterers can bring their own self-contained taco service kitchen-on-wheels, making it possible to expand your options as to where breakfast actually takes place. Mobile taco catering enables breakfast at poolside, at an outdoor yoga class or at any kitchen-less offsite location preferred by the client.
But first, consider the nature of the food itself. Gourmet tacos come with some distinct advantages:
Nutrition – You can work with your taco caterers on creative ingredients, but it’s wholly possible to include eggs, bacon, cheese, spinach or grilled fresh peppers for traditionalists. That provides the essential proteins, carbohydrates and fat that every body needs to start their day. Note in particular the growing popularity of and nutrition benefits from spices. Capsaicinoids, the natural chemicals in hot peppers, reduce cravings that often lead people to overeat. There’s even research that suggests that hot spices, which diners to apply in quantities they choose, can help regulate blood sugar levels, while hardcore “chiliheads” speak of a post-ingestion euphoria that might be due to an endorphin release that follows the piquancy of hot spices.
Eat with ease – But this benefit extends to breakfast diners as well: the hand-held meal does not require formal sit-down service nor serving utensils.
Wake them up! – A boring meal is no way to start a day. Breakfast in a taco can be their first surprise, including how awesome and filling they are. Remember that tacos perhaps more than any other breakfast food can be a social food, allowing the mobility of a continental breakfast with fewer carbs. And if a meeting calls for two or three days of breakfasts, note that the ingredients from one day to the next can be quite different (think black beans, tofu, potatoes, ham, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and chicken).
A generation ago, the concept of tacos was limited to a certain mass-market restaurant chain. But lately the more creative approach to tacos – some of which harken back to tacos’ beginnings with workers in Mexican silver mines – has elevated the food to finer settings. That includes corporate as well as special occasion family events such as weddings, graduations, birthdays, confirmations and bar and bat mitzvahs.
